Arriving in Lyon - la neige! (or is it il neige?)

We were delighted to arrive at Paris's Charles de Gaulle Aiport to find it was minus 4 degrees with snow on the ground! We found the coach and set off for Lyon on the motorway, packed with trucks and cars during the peak hour rush.
Still on the ring road around Paris!

I spotted Nancy on the sign and thought of my mum!

The deciduous trees appeared ghost-like, covered in snow!
Some of our students at the petrol station lunch stop where Cathy practiced her French and ordered very small coffees!
Getting closer!

Our journey was slowed by heavy snowfall as we neared Lyon, but we arrived safely, only 1 hour late.
We finally arrived in Lyon at 5pm and met the excited host girls and their families at the main train station Gare de la Port Dieu and within a very short time they were all heading off for the slow journey home in the snow, some travelling as far away as Geneva.

It took Cathy and me 4 hours to travel by car the 3km across town to our hotel Sejours Affaires Apparthotel , we had to cross both rivers and travel a further 1km west of La Saone around the Fourvier district, with gridlock at the intersections, barely moving a metre per half hour at times! Anyway, we finally made it at 9.30pm, 44 hours since leaving home in Melbourne. Needless to say we were looking forward to sleep!

Speak to you again soon!
